history of asthmatic kitty

Asthmatic Kitty record label – a record label started in Holland, Michigan amongst a community of local artists, that expanded to include artists from around the nation.

1995 - Sara, the cat, was adopted by Lowell Brams, co-founder of Asthmatic Kitty
1999 - Asthmatic Kitty was founded by Brams and his step-son, Sufjan Stevens
2000 - Stevens releases his first album, as well as Asthmatic Kitty's, A Sun Came
2001 - Re-released Half-Handed Cloud's album, Learning About Your Scale. This was the second record released by Asthmatic Kitty
2002 - Brams moved to Lander, WY, taking Asthamtic Kitty there with him. Since then, the Holland location has dispersed, but branches in Indianapolis and New York City have taken its place.
2008 - Sara the cat died at the age of 15.
2009 - Launched the Library Catalog series
