gestalt

In order: 4 definitions for the various forms of gestalt, 12 photos, separated by gestalt form; 20 compositions, separated by gestalt form.

Closure - the term given to the phenomena when the mind completes a missing series or image by using knowledge and observations already made.

Continuance - the nature of something to lead off the edge of a frame, causing the eye and reader to move with it.

Proximity - similar items grouped near each other have a relationship.

Similarity - items that share similar texture, shape, color, etc.

All of the photos were taken on my iPhone at some point.

My compositions were created in InDesign. I used brown butcher paper to cut out different shapes that I used to create each composition. I used Photoshop to convert everything, compositions and photos, to grayscale tifs.
